A question for all hairdressers about toner....?

does a brown toner applied to highlighted, very blonde hair ever wash out?

this was a mistake that happened at my hairdressers last week and although it was corrected with a few highlights on top it was still very dark.

i have been washing my hair every day for a week and it has lightened a bit and the previous highlights are beggining to show through so my questions is....

will this toner ever completely wash out?

if so roughly how long should it take?

if not can you reccommend what i can do to get my blonde hair back?

all help is much appreciated! :)A question for all hairdressers about toner....?
Go back to your hairdresser and explain the problem and let her fix it. As a professional I would want to know, and so will she. It may take using a harsh detergent like a dish soap, but it depends on what she used if it had any peroxide in it or not. Only she knows that. Toners aren't usually brown, but she could have used a semi permanent color, and she may need to relighten some highlights.

Don't try to do anything yourself. She should deal with it and I'm sure she won't mind. If you told her what you wanted and she messed up she should do whatever it takes

edit.....I would find another hairdresser to help you and tell her everything that was done the best you can. If you can call the first one to find out what product was used do that, otherwise just have the new one do what she can. As I said she may have to relighten some highlights if the dish soap doesn't work. If it was a semi permanent tint it might work, but anything dark applied on lightened hair can stain so she may need to use bleach to do it. A bleach wash will lighten all your hair so I wouldn't suggest that.

Don't do it yourself as you can do more bad than good. Tint cannot lighten tint (if it's not semi) so don't use anything like that.

BTW where did you move from and to? Just curiousA question for all hairdressers about toner....?
no it will never completely wash out as it has tainted the hairshafts which will permanently dullen them. you need to do a bleach wash to get it completely out.
