She Wants Pink Hair. Hairdressers help please.?

My 16 year old sister really wants pink hair.


not light pink. she would like 'hot' pink.


the thing is, she is part filippino (like me, obviously) and has dark skin. like tanned - not that dark. i myself have pale white-ish skin (taking after my dad)


i'm trying to convince my sister that pink hair will not suit because of her skin tone. of course - she wont listen.


is anyone out there using Yahoo answers have a good style idea and colour that will suit my sister?


Monica (my sister) has a 'bob' hair style where it can spike up at the back. she also has a round-ish face with dark skin.


i would really appreatiate it if answes contained links of pictures to show Monica the 'appropriate' style that would make her happy.


i personally think a purple-ish colour would suit her.

If Monica's looking for some bright, exotic color, she should go with some kind of purple. It would look great with her skin tone. A dark blue would also look nice.

yea i think a purpleish or red colour would suit her too.. but if she is desperate for a pink, maybe only a couple of streaks, but for a style maybe suggest grow it long, with a side bang and have it layered a lot...

She's 16, still young enough to have fun without conforming to a workplace dress code. Let her have fun and experiment...if she hates it, she can always color over it. The bob sounds awesome for doing wild colors, so she's probably already set in that area. If she's hesitant about doing the full bleach-out necessary for turning dark hair into hot pink hair, she could try just bleaching out some big chunks in front to try it out, leaving the rest dark. Or if she wants to see how the color would look, she could go to a costume shop and try on wigs. The main problem will be getting the hair to a near-white shade before adding in the pink. That's a lot of bleaching, when you're starting with such dark hair. Go to a professional for that level of lightening, unless you're willing to spend a full day re-processing with Super Blue bleach--again, and again, and again, always damaging the hair further.





At the end of it all, though, it's just hair--it grows back. And if she ends up wrecking it, it can still be covered over with a dark color. Believe me, I've been there!
Why not a compromise? Do her hair a dark purple and put one hot pink streak by her bangs?
