Okay, so my wedding is in June and I've been thinking about my hairstyles. I think I'm going to go with barrel rolls. But, that's not the point. lol
How do I go about asking someone to do my hair for my wedding day and having them practice? I don't really have one particular salon I go to all the time for a haircut. Do most places charge for the practice session? Do I call and say that I'm getting married and want someone to do my hair and want a practice session? Just, all in all, how do I go about all this? How did you go about this? Help!Question about Hair and Hairdressers for Wedding?
I had the same problem in that I don't have a regular hairdressers. I have asked around friends and family and found a hairdresser that has a good reputation for doing wedding hair. I then went into the salon and asked about doing hair for a wedding. The hairdresser was very helpful - she suggested to me that it is necessary to practice and how much this would cost, I didn't have to ask. I did ask if she could try a couple of different things as I'm not sure what I want and she is going to do that for me when I go in. She also told me to bring a picture of the dress to make sure the style will suit it.
Basically I would suggest finding a recommended hairdresser and talking to them. See if they are helpful when you chat to them and if not then go elsewhere! They are giving up their time so I doubt you will find anywhere that will give you a free practice session but they should be able to offer a free consultation. Hope that helps.Question about Hair and Hairdressers for Wedding?
Many salons have a free consultation/practice session, but you'll have to (just as you mentioned) call around and investigate. Every place will have their own policies, so there is no blanket answer.
I'm getting married in my fiance's hometown (and I don't know the area at all), but my FMIL is asking her favourite hairdresser for suggestions on who to ask/rates, etc. Remember that just because you have someone do a practice session, you are not required to stick with them for the actual event - it's your day, and you need to feel beautiful!
Yes, you call and say you are getting married and want to do a trial run of the hairstyle you desire. But I'm pretty sure you will have to pay for the trial run because the hairdresser is providing a service to you and it's their time. A consultation may be free, but not actually doing your hair...even if it is practice or trial run.
