I want to be a mobile hairdresser i have all the qualifications im just unsure of how to go about it.?

I need to be able to get the products. also do i have to go and do a full consultation before colouring the clients hair. Do you have to have a special fitting attatchment for the taps to wash the hair, do u use your own shampoo plz help.I want to be a mobile hairdresser i have all the qualifications im just unsure of how to go about it.?
i have recently become freelance and its the best thing i ever did. you need public liability insuranvce which is about 拢10 a month .also you need to register with the inland revenue . you will have to pay ni contributions 拢10 a month , this is for your pension , you have to let them know what your earning , but the good news is you can earn more and pay hardly any tax. i hope you are not straight out of college because its important to have experience of dealing with people . i wouldnt bother with a hose . most people are fine washing hair over the bath and older ladies over the sink with a jug . you can contact me if you like .hope it goes well .I want to be a mobile hairdresser i have all the qualifications im just unsure of how to go about it.?
I would recommend that you do a full consultation of the client's hair before colouring it beacuse you need to know what she has on it, condition, the undertone that will come out depending on which colour you choose etc.

You also need to do a skin test 24-48 hours before colouring incase the client reacts(doesn't matter if she's had a colour before) it's your responsibility on that day- what if she reacted?!! You'd be blamed!!!

You will be able to buy the products for retail prices at a wholesalers like sally's.

You can also get like a shower head to fit the taps to make things easier. I would use your own shampoo aswell, looks more professional, unless the client has a reason to use her own
if you know how a hairdressers works do it like that have all equip you need ,try friends first and get some cards printed with mobile number on it ,sallys will let you get products at cheaper prices if one near you ,if you are going to charge for washing hair bring your own and conditioner ,if no charge use theirs but have your own in cases you need it.

normally colour probably will be i want a colour so talk to each client before u go so you know what colour they r looking .
I got one word for you. craigslist.com. All you have to do is put ads there advertising your services in the area you reside and such and you will get a lot of clients. You should invest in a sink hose which you can attach to the tap and wash your client's hair in the sink. Also invest in a good shampoo and conditioner to take along with you. If your client does not have their own to use then you use yours. Hope this helped. good luck! :-)
Advertise in the local paper and put up lots of ads!
My hairdresser is mobile and I wash my hair just before she arrives but she does have the plastic fittings she carries around with her for her older clients. Like the first answer carry shampoo and conditioner with you as some clients want the same treatment as the salon but in their own home. As for colouring you need to allergy test them and show them colour charts as my hairdresser will refuse to colour hair if it she thinks it will be completey wrong for them. The last thing you want is for someone to have a reaction after you have coloured their hair.
I just wanted to let u know that if you are not a cosmetologist u can get in a lot of trouble. If you are you will need to get a license to work on your own. You can't just go out and do hair and u definitely can't go and do hair outside of a salon without a business license.

We as cosmetologist can be sued now for mistakes that can happen for any reason at all.

Just a little friendly information.

Also I never buy hair products except a lightener{bleach} from Sally's they are not professional that is why anyone can buy them.
The hardest part in setting up your own business is to take the first step and hairdressing is one of the those business that if you know what you're doing and you run it properly as a business you can go far. However it is best to get some professional advice before statrting talk to your bank first they can offer a lot of info about setting up business however it is useful to joing an organisation like the Freelance Hair %26amp; beauty Federation (www.fhbf.org.uk) They can offer lots of info and also offer education and support. Good Luck
firstly find a good hairdressing supplier, use their products on family and friends, so u now ur happy with there products. secondly onceu have all the equipment u can have cards printed and also advertise in shop windows. I've had a hairdresser coming to me for over 15 years. when she comes shes here for the most of the day as she does my two daughters and grandsons hair as well. good luck and i hope ur business does very well
Hi I think first off all you will need to declar yourself self employed, and I think you may need to get everything set out right in your home before you start getting customers, You will be able to get any products you need online or from Sallys if you have a store near you. But all you might have to do is prove that you have the qualification, I dont know how you would do this, but I think you might have to get a number or something.

As for all the styling products and stuff, I think you can use whatever products you want to use, your own shampoos and styling products you like, but as you are a qualified hairdresser I think that you will get discount off the brand salon named products so you could use these not that they are anybetter or worse than the high street names.

Why not look through the yellow pages and see which mobile hairdressers are in your area and ask them how they go about doing everything. I think they will be happy to help. Just explaiin that you are fully qualified and want to become a mobile hairdresser like them and that you want to know which steps you need do to get started, there is no harm in asking and whats better than to ask a person who has been doing it for years.

I think you will get there in the end.

Also I was thinking of going to collage to train to be a hardresser, at the end of the day is it worth doing and its it a very stressfull job and is there alot of paper work to do, and roughlty hoe long does it take to complete, as I have always dreamed of becoming a hairdresser, but I dont have the guts to do it. Any informatio you can give me will be great please email me with your advice. Thank you
