Working in a hairdressers,training...?

I currently work in a hair salon as a trainee. I start college at the end of this month but what i want too know is,i asked too do voluntary work for some experiance so i earn litrally nothing and i work 2 days a week 10-5pm sometimes 6pm and i get told off for sitting down for like 5 minutes just because im wearing uniform...when everyone else sits down its ok but as soon as i do i get told too stand up.


There is no chairs out back for me too sit on either %26amp; the boss always moans and says i dont get time to sit down but the thing is she is a beautician and beauticians half the time sit down anyway too do certain treatments like nails etc..


also all im doing is cleaning,they've shown me how to wash hair once since ive been there and its been about 3 months


What i want to know is,is this right? are they taking the piss?Working in a hairdressers,training...?
Oh, Yes, they are definitely ';taking the piss';. Slavery went out over 120 years ago, and you must not go along with this abuse. For every 4 hours you work you are entitled to a 10 minute sit down break. For any day in which you work over 6 hours you are entitled to a 1/2 hour dinner break. Check with labor relations board.
