I am in my first trimester and i have bleach blond hair.
My roots are starting to come through FAST i am terrified of having my hair bleached as in 2007 i was pregnant and waited untill 12 weeks to get my hair bleached and 2 days later my baby died ( missed miscarge)
I know it probably wasn't the cause but i always do wonder so this is why im so worried.
so hairdressers is it REALLY safe to bleach hair when pregnant or could you recomend me something else for during my pregnancy? here are some pics of my hair ( below)
I have a 13 month old baby and through my last pregnancy i left it and looked awful!
Pregnancy isn't kind to my looks anyway bad skin etc so having bad hair for 9 months made me feel down;-(

I know I'm not a hairdresser, but I had the same concerns when I went to have my highlights. The hairdresser assured me there were NO health risks to me or baby, they warn that the colour may not take as well, but this is rare and didn't happen to me.
What happened before was an awful coincidence and I wouldn't associate the two.
Good Luck xxxColouring hair when pregnant hairdressers plz?
Im not to sure about bleaching your hair. But you are aloud to dye your hair if your in the second trimester and you are not around the fumes. If you dye it just go in a well ventilated area.
Some obgyns let you some dont. Mine let me and I dyed my hair when I was 19 weeks, But it turned purple because of my hormones. Stupid Hairdye. I looked like Barney!!!
its safe just make sure they use a 20 volume instead of a higher one but its better to wait after ur first trimester for this if u really cant wait have them do a foil instead just foil all of ur hair and ask for off scalp treatment.. Im pregnant and a hair dresser and I do lots of pregnant womens hair...
My midwife told me to wait until i was after 20 weeks to dye my hair, and it had to be with ammonia free dye.
I feel much better now I'm a red head again. But i would definitely contact your midwife/doctor and ask their opinion.
I have a friend who just had a baby and is also a hairdresser. Not only did she color her own hair while pregnant, she had many pregnant customers as well.
I think as long as your out of your first trimester, you're in good shape.
its safe after the first trimester to dye your hair. i woulnt bleach it tho. just dye. but anytime after the first trimester is safe but you should still consult the dr as everyones different so whats safe for one may not be for another
its safe just do not bleach it color wont take to my hair for some reason im 29 weeks pregnant the color wouldn't take correctly and i wanted it brown it turned my hair red
My doctor said it's safe to color your hair while pregnant.
Im not a hairdresser but i have my hair highlighted and have just had it done again
my hairdresser told me after 12 weeks was the safe time the only thing with coloring your hair as i have found is my blonde high lights look slightly yellow
the hair dresser said it was because of being pregnant
I have a non bleach high lights i think its called uplift and it has no bleach in it and is safe
always wondered what half my contacts look like now i know lol
It is possible that the dye may not come out exactly as you think it should. Your hair may act differently because of the pregnancy hormones.
There never have been any side effects linked to dying your hair. The dye is not soaking into your scalp, and is not going into your blood stream.
Some docs think that it is best to wait after the first trimester to color your hair, but every doc is different. If you are concerned, just get some foil highlights or lowlights, that way, the color never touches your scalp! ;)
you shouldn't be dying your hair when you are pregnant though because of the harsh chemicals in the dye
It is true that you need to wait until past 20 weeks, make sure you color in a very well ventilated area, outside if possible and with ammonia free dye. The ammonia is the same thing in cat pee that can cause toxoplasmosis and hurt your fetus and make you sick. As far as I know, all bleaches and defnitely all high quality ones have ammonia, so you may just have to go back to your natural color through the pregnancy. That would be your best bet to color once and avoid bad hair and avoid hurting the baby.
good luck!
No, it is definitely not safe AT ALL to bleach your hair while pregnant. If you MUST color it, do it when you're far into your second trimester. I myself don't chance it at all though. I am waaaay over-due for a coloring and i'm 19 weeks along. But i won't dare do it until baby is born. Better safe than sorry.
EDIT: Oh, and i personally know exactly how you feel. I also have horrible acne..etc. But i still wouldn't compromise my baby's health just to look pretty.
EDIT: Just took a look at your pics, you would actually look really pretty with an Auburn color. I'd say wait until you're in your second trimester and add an Auburn color to your hair (make sure it is ammonia free)
Doctors do say that during your first trimester its not the best to color your hair. Although I did and everything was fine for me. I have many pregnant clients as well. But a way to avoid having terrible roots and still not touching your scalp with the chemicals.... I recommend highlights. They can get very close to your scalp without actually touching it so it doesnt affect your body or the baby whatsoever. Your hair is all one tone and a little to blond though to just do highlights. I would put a few lowlights in there to break it up and it won't look like you have roots at all. It was also give you more dimension in your color. Believe me you wont go back afterwards. : ) And a big misconception is that women think that lowlights have to be a dark color but they are def not they just have to be a little darker then your base so you could have a little darker blond or very light brown. Just email me if you have any questions.
