Stylists and hairdressers, please tell me if I am harming my hair by doing this?

My mom is extremely aggressively angry about me washing my hair every day because she believes I will go bald after a couple of years and that I am destroying my hair. But here's the deal - I have curly hair with roots that go extremely greasy after like 24 after washing. So I wash it every evening (with Dove - not harsh shampoo at all), I do it very carefully and I don't shed much hair at all during the wash. I use great conditioner, deep-conditioning 3-4 times a week and I don't blow dry. I just sleep on it. It looks great, I don't feel gross like every other day and it's just as thick as it always was. But am I really hurting my hair by doing all this? Please, expert advice. Stylists and hairdressers, please tell me if I am harming my hair by doing this?
OMG i hve curly hair too and mine gets greasy also so i understand where you are coming from! Ok so ive been useing pantene witch i love but i was everyday and ive been doing this for years now and i have noticed that i have been losing hair in the shower so i went to my hair dresser and talked to her and she said that it can be normal to lose some hair but you shoud lighten up! so what you should do is every once and a while skip washing your hair!!! or maybe just dont deep contition as much!! i hope this helped!!

good luck!!Stylists and hairdressers, please tell me if I am harming my hair by doing this?
Absolutely not. I've been washing my hair every day my whole life, and it's in great condition and I have the same issue as you- roots that get greasy after 24 hours.

Your mom probably just has a different hair type and doesn't understand. I guarantee you will not go bald from washing it once a day.
no u wont ruin your hair by washing it every day but u will wash out your natural oils so your hair will become greasy more quickly then you will need to wash it more!
I wash my hair every day because it's quite oily and I'm 48 and I still have a full head of healthy hair. Mom is out to lunch and way off base on this one. Hair on the outside of the scalp is dead as it is, The living part is in the scalp and keeping the scalp clean is far better for the roots of the hair because it keeps the follicle and root clear of excess oil and dirt. A build up of excess oil and dirt can clog the follicles and that can make hair fall out. So too little hair washing is far worse for your hair than washing it. And true baldness comes from either genetics or disease or from medications such as cancer drugs. Washing your hair will not make you go bald and it won't destroy your hair. Ever.

By the way ';extremely aggressively angry?'; over washing hair? That seems excessive. Does any of the anger involve physical violence or yelling and screaming? Maybe you should try to find a teacher or school counselor to talk to, I think maybe mom's problem isn't hair, maybe there's something else going on.
