Question for hairdressers: have you ever not done a client's hair the way they wanted it because....?

you did not think it would look nice on them?? i'm asking this because my little sister went to Regis Salon at the mall to have her hair styled for a fashion show for kids with diabetes and she REALLY wanted her hair curled like this pic she had or jessica simpson. she took it to the girl and the girl started styling her hair but had my sister's chair faced away from the mirror (my mom and i went w/ her but left to go shoppin like 5 mins into it). we came back and my sister was very upset and her hair looked horrible and NOTHING like the pic. we asked the girl why she didnt style it like she wanted and the girl said ';i didn't think it would look good with her face shape'; so we left with my sister in tears. his has also happened to me the day before my senior yearbook photo, i told the man what color i wanted and showed him and he did a color that was WAY off and told me it made me look more ';dignafied';. have any of you or do you know of anyone whose done this b4?Question for hairdressers: have you ever not done a client's hair the way they wanted it because....?
No, I've never done that to anyone. If I thought that I explained that to them when I started, in the end I honored the clients request. It's not my place to decide what someone wants for their own hair, whether I like it or not. If the person doing her hair couldn't or wouldn't give her what she asked for she should've told her. She should not have had to pay for a style that the hair dresser wanted which was not what she asked for. Especially with a picture. Sometimes it's hard to understand what people want, but there are no excuses if she brought a picture!Question for hairdressers: have you ever not done a client's hair the way they wanted it because....?
I am a hairstylist. Sometimes a client will want their hair done in a way that I may think is hideous. I tell them what I think, offer other suggestions--then do what they want. If I really don't want to do what the client wants I get someone else in the salon that enjoys doing what that client wants to do it.
yes! that happened 2me. but usually they'll do it the wayy u want it anyways, nd just argue with u about how u should get it cutt. ugghh annoying. if iwanted their opinion iwould have asked.
no but my mom is a haiedresser and if she doesnt think it will look good on you she will tell u what she thinks will look good and if u still want that style she'll do the style

p.s. you shood have asked 2 speek 2 the manager and told the tale
If a client has shown a picture of what their desired look is the stylist either needs to complete the service as expected by the client or explain why what the client wants wont work BEFORE the service begins and offer an alternative that is better suited for the client. If the stylist has offered an alternative style/color the stylist should show the client a picture. Unfortunately I think you and your sister had stylist would gave you something different because they didn't know how to do what you all wanted.
Yes that has happen to me about 2 times. I insist on seeing my hair while I'm getting it done and the whole time I remind the hair dresser how I want it. Plus if it's not the way I want it than I will not pay for it or I will not pay the full price or I get it done over.
Call the Regis salon and talk to the manager they will offer you the service redone or refund. I am sorry that happend to you. I know this b/c i use to work for a company under regis called Trade secret.
I have had it done to me before. Most hairdressers know what they are talking about and those who don't are probably inexperienced. It takes time for the stylist to know how to do things the way they need to be done. While coloring be can be permanent and cannot always fixed, a haircut can and a stylist can start over on the hair if you aren't satisfied. So if you ask and it is possible most will redo your hair.
