One for the hairdressers and colourists?

Im currently a natural redhead (not bright ginger) and im wanting to go blonde....someone told me i should have highlights first....is this just like blonde streaks through the hair? Because i always thought that looked a bit naff lol whats the best way for me to go blonde, would it work and look ok and how much roughly am i looking at in 拢拢拢? Thank you.

okay first off i dont think you should go blonde, we have to many of those al ready.and the bleach will kill your scalp but if you still want to i would go with a darker honey blonde only if your hair is dark red.if your hair is bright orangy- red then i wouldnt go lighter i would go with a nice choclatey brown especially if you have pale skin like back in lindsey lohan's parent trap daysOne for the hairdressers and colourists?
Yes, the best thing you could do is get all-over highlights. If you ask for all over bleach, you'll get a bright yellow color, even in a salon, because your red undertones will add a lot of brassiness that can be difficult to get rid of completely. I suggest you ask your colorist to give you a caramel color dye and then add in lots of all-over highlights. Once you have the highlights in, you might have a few caramel lowlights but it should look something like this:
