ok here goes.. i was in the hairdresser wen this guy came in an asked us to figure this out he told a story bout 3 girls,(short version) they all booked a hotel at 拢30 paying 拢10 each they went to their room an the owner realised it was only meant to be 拢25 so he took the extra 拢5 to them, they took 拢1 each an left him with 拢2 to his self which makes up the 拢30, so this means the girls all really paid 拢9 each for their room? ok so 9 x 3 = 27? the man kept 2 that makes 29 where is the extra 拢1?????????Man in hairdressers told me this can u figure it out?
The fate of the 30 is:





1. 25 stayed in the till


2. 2 went to the landlord


3. 3 went back to the girls





Adding the 25+2= 27 paid by the girls (9 each).





The mind trick is to say ';9x3=27...the man kept 2 that makes 29';. Wrong. That only makes 27 because the man's 2 is already a part of the 25+2=27. Then add on the 3 refunded to the girls. That makes 30 and all the money is accounted for.Man in hairdressers told me this can u figure it out?
He took them the 5 back, so he still had their 25 which means they actually pay 8.333 each, then they take 1 each which brings that up to 9.333 each, add that all up and you get 28, plus the 2 he has left from the 5.


9.333 * 3 = 27.999 = 28 + 2= 30!

The men each paid US$9 for the room or US$27 total. The hotel got US$25 and the bellboy got US$2. 25 + 2 = 27. It's a trick question and the 30 is not the goal.


Or you can say each man initially paid US$10 and had US$1 returned to them. 30 - 3 = 27 = 25 + 2...!
9x3= 27





Then you TAKE AWAY the two which he kept and you get the amount it should have been for the three of them





27 - 2 = 25
